President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto have arrived at Beijing International Airport for a three-day state visit to China.
They were received by Chinese Minister of Transportation Liu Wei1 on landing.
During the visit, President Ruto is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with President Xi Jinping. The engagement is aimed at unlocking new opportunities in trade, investment, and infrastructure development.
President Ruto’s other engagements include the opening of the Kenya Tea Holding Centre in Fujian Province to enhance market access for Kenyan tea farmers and expand Kenya’s trade presence in Asia.
The head of state will also issue a keynote address at Peking University, where he will outline Africa’s vision for inclusive growth, South-South cooperation, and reforms to the global financial system to benefit developing nations.
The visit reinforces the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2017, positioning Kenya as a leading Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) partner in Africa.
The discussions will also cover green energy collaboration, technology transfer, and public-private partnerships to reduce reliance on conventional loans amid rising debt concerns.
