Former Kisumu nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) Carren Atieno Muga has been arrested by police in Kapsabet after her child was found to be the chief suspect behind a gruesome murder committed in Chemase, Nandi County.
The murder case is believed to be an organ harvesting business.
The National Police Service in a statement said that Carren is the mother of the suspect behind the murder of Enock Kipsang who was beheaded and his private parts chopped off.
The politician was arrested along the Chemelil-Miwani-Kisumu road as she was fleeing her residence in fear of being lynched by irate members of the public.
Her motor vehicle was also detained at Kapsabet Police Station.
Meanwhile, a manhunt has been launched for other prime suspects still at large.
This comes days after members of the public stormed Chemase Police Post and freed a murder suspect before stoning him to death and subsequently burning his body.
The suspect identified as Victor Kimutai was being held in connection with Kipsang’s brutal murder.
