The National Assembly Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations chaired by Hon Nelson Koech has commenced vetting of persons nominated for appointment as Ambassadors, High Commissioners and Consuls-General.

First to appear, Hon. Florence Bore nominated as High Commissioner to Windhoek, Nambia

Hon. Bore previously served as Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Labour from 2022 to 2024 and Women Representative, Kericho County from 2017 – 2022.

Speaking on Kenya-Nambia relationship, Hon. Florence Bore noted that the relationship began in 1964. “In 2018 the first agreement between Kenya and Nambia was signed referred to as the Joint Coorpoaration Agreement with several other agreements being signed since then. If approved I would work towards the full implementation of these agreements,” the nominee said.

“My first focus area would be Economic diplomacy, I would want to engage Nambia on trade and investments, we should open up our markets, particularly agricultural products,” added Hon. Bore.

On the challenges facing Kenyans working in Namibia, “Kenyans in Nambia have a challenge accessing consular services, people have to go all the way to South Africa for passports, IDs, Birth certificates.If approved I will work towards bringing consulat services closer to the people.”

Hon. Florence Bore has a Bachelors of Education from Moi University served as a teacher for 23 years before vying for the Women Representative position in 2013 and subsequently being elected as a Women Representative in 2017.
