Former Nairobi Governor and National Economic Development Party (NEDP) leader Mike Sonko on Tuesday held his first aspirants’ meeting in Machakos County.

Sonko shared a statement on his X account saying the event was a “massive success” and warning critics who have dismissed his political movement as a “project” to take notice.

“This so-called project is a bulldozer, and it is coming for your seats, your comfort, and your politics. Slowly but surely, the ground is shifting,” he wrote.

The meeting brought together NEDP aspirants for various elective positions and marked the party’s first organized engagement in the county. Sonko vowed to continue building grassroots support across Machakos and beyond.

Supporters praised Sonko’s direct style and energy, with many sharing their enthusiasm on social media. The event signals the party’s intent to strengthen its presence and influence in the region ahead of the upcoming polls.
