United States International University-Africa (USIU-Africa) has won an inter-campus Call of Duty: Mobile tournament, taking home KSh100,000 in prize money.
The team beat other university competitors to claim the title at the tournament’s grand finals, held at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA).
USIU-Africa’s winning line-up included Leroy Barasa, known as Raging, Bryan Bernard, Jesse Kariuki, Ajewole Pelumi and Miguel Koikai, who plays as Denarius.
Dedan Kimathi University of Technology finished second, while Multimedia University took third place. The University of Eldoret came fourth.
Daystar University, Meru University of Science and Technology, Zetech University and Chuka University also took part in the competition.
Speaking after the win, USIU-Africa player Jesse Kariuki said the team had prepared well and remained focused throughout the tournament.
He said the victory was a proud moment for the team and reflected the growing talent in university esports in Kenya.
The competition was part of Carry1st’s Call of Duty: Mobile Siku Zombo Tour, which ran from October 17 to 25. The campaign combined online qualifiers with in-person activities aimed at bringing gamers, content creators and fans together.
Players competed for their universities, took part in creator-led challenges and attended community activations. The tour also featured Nganya pop-up events, bringing the game into local entertainment spaces.
Carry1st project manager Adekoya “Andre” Ayomide said the turnout showed strong interest in the game among Kenyan players. He said the company plans to continue supporting local competitions and the wider Call of Duty: Mobile community.
