A Fourth-Year Moi University student has been charged with publishing false information about President William Ruto.
David Oaga Mokaya shared an image on his X account of a funeral procession with a casket bearing the image of a Kenyan flag escorted by military officers and captioned it; “President William Ruto’s body leaves Lee Funeral.”
Mokaya reportedly fabricated the date to make the post appear authentic.
Appearing before Milimani Law Courts Senior Principal Magistrate Benmark Ekhumbi, Mokaya pleaded not guilty to the charges.
He was granted a bond of KSh 100,000 with an alternative cash bail of KSh 50,000.
The case is scheduled for mention on December 4, 2024.
