Kenya’s 4th President, Uhuru Kenyatta, on Thursday presided over Kabarak University’s 21st Graduation Ceremony as Chief Guest at the institution’s main campus in Nakuru County.
The former Head of State arrived at the graduation grounds accompanied by the university’s Chancellor, Gideon Moi, ahead of the ceremony that brought together students, faculty, parents and invited guests to celebrate academic achievement.
In a statement shared by the Office of the 4th President on X on December 19, 2025, Kenyatta was welcomed to the institution as it marked a major milestone, with 2,390 graduands being conferred with various academic qualifications.
During his address, Kenyatta congratulated the graduands and urged them to take up their role in nation-building and enhancing Kenya’s global competitiveness.
“I congratulate you and welcome you to play your role as productive individuals, well prepared to contribute to the growth and prosperity of our country and the global economy,” he said.
The former President emphasized the importance of education in shaping responsible leadership, innovation and service to society, noting that Kabarak University was founded on the vision of faith, excellence and service by the late President Daniel Toroitich arap Moi.
“Today, we are witnessing his dream alive and thriving,” Kenyatta said, as he challenged graduates to apply the knowledge and values acquired at the institution to solve real-world challenges, guided by integrity and discipline.
He also underscored the role of entrepreneurship in developing economies, saying Kenya’s future depends on innovators capable of turning ideas into sustainable solutions.
Kenyatta commended Kabarak University for establishing a hub for job creation, applied research and innovation, noting that such initiatives are key to equipping young people with practical skills to drive economic growth.
The ceremony featured colourful academic processions, with Kenyatta and Chancellor Gideon Moi leading the graduation march.
Addressing the graduands, the former President urged them to carry forward the values of faith, excellence and service as they transition into professional life.
“Let your light shine across boardrooms, government offices, international organisations and the private sector. Go forth and make a difference,” he said.
