Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has retained his leadership of the Jubilee Party after the Registrar of Political Parties formally upheld his leadership.

The verdict also solidifies Jeremiah Kioni’s position as the party’s secretary-general, striking a major blow to the rival faction led by Kanini Kega and nominated MP Sabina Chege.

The decision brings to an end a power struggle that has seen Jubilee divided down the middle, with each side accusing the other of betrayal and political backstabbing.

The Kanini-Sabina wing, perceived to be leaning towards the Kenya Kwanza administration, has vowed to challenge the ruling.

However, for now, the party’s leadership remains firmly in the hands of its original founders.
