The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has dismissed reports that Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has been ousted as the outfit’s Deputy Party Leader after its merger with the Amani National Congress (ANC).
The merger saw changes in UDA’s top leadership, with Lamu Governor Issa Timamy being designated the Deputy Party Leader, a position also held by Kindiki.
To set the record straight, UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar said Kindiki is and will remain one of the two Deputy Party Leaders of the formation tentatively identified as the United Democratic Alliance Party after the merger.
"The naming of Governor Issa Timamy as a Deputy Party Leader does not affect the position of Kindiki. The UDA party's constitution creates two positions of Deputy Party Leader. Therefore, the naming of Governor Issa Timamy only serves to comply with the party constitution," said Omar.
Following the merger, the UDA party leadership structure is as follows:
1. William Ruto, PhD, CGH- Party Leader
2. Kithure Kindiki- First Deputy Party Leader
3. Issa Timamy – Second Deputy Party Leader
4. Cecily Mbarire – National Chairperson
5. Hassan Omar Hasssan – Secretary General
6. Kelvin Lunani – Vice Chairperson
7. Omboko Milemba – Deputy Secretary General
8. Japheth Nyakundi – National Treasurer
9. Vincent Kawaya – National Organizing Secretary
