James Mwangi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Equity Bank, has been appointed to the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) as a member. His appointment to the CFR’s Global Board of Advisors marks a significant achievement for Africa. The continent is expected to benefit greatly from this inclusion, as the CFR focuses on US foreign policy and global relations.
“I am honored to have been asked to join the CFR Global Board of Advisors and am grateful for the opportunity to share a positive African narrative,” Mwangi said.
The Global Board of Advisors, now in its twelfth year, helps enhance CFR’s understanding of international perspectives. It fosters dialogue between US leaders in foreign affairs and their global counterparts.
Mwangi expressed that Africa’s role in global development will be highlighted, leading to more fruitful collaborations. The CEO emphasized that the continent’s contributions, both present and future, will be central to these discussions.
Based in New York City and Washington, DC, CFR is an independent, nonpartisan organization. It brings together government officials, global business leaders, and experts in intelligence and foreign policy. These members discuss international issues and publish research on global relations.
CFR’s members include senior politicians, CIA directors, corporate CEOs, and prominent media figures.
