Lionesses Coach Mwanja Unveils Squad for 2025 HSBC Challenger Series

Kenya Lionesses Head Coach Dennis Mwanja has named the squad that will travel to South Africa next week for the 2025 HSBC Challenger Series.

The team will kick off their campaign with the first two rounds, set to take place at Athlone Stadium in South Africa on March 1st-2nd and 7th-8th.

Drawn in Pool D, the National Women’s Sevens team will face Poland and Samoa as they aim to finish in the top four to secure a spot in the HSBC SVNS play-off tournament.

Coach Mwanja expressed confidence in his team’s preparation, highlighting their hard work in training.

“The girls have been working tirelessly, and I’m confident they will deliver on the field. This is a talented and resilient group, and I believe they are fully prepared for the challenge ahead,” he said.

The squad combines experience and emerging talent, with Grace Okulu named as team captain.

The full squad includes: Naomi Amuguni, Christabel Lindo, Sheila Chajira, Stellah Wafula, Faith Livoi, Moreen Muritu, Sinaida Mokaya, Freshia Oduor, Judith Okumu, Grace Okulu (Captain), Sharon Auma, and Diana Ochieng.

The top eight teams from the first two rounds will advance to the third round of the Challenger Series, which is scheduled for April 11th-12th in Krakow, Poland.

The top four ranked teams after this round will then qualify for the HSBC SVNS play-off tournament in Los Angeles on May 3rd-4th, where they will compete for a chance to join the elite HSBC SVNS circuit.
