Local police officers in Ruai, Kasarani Constituency, have shot and killed two criminals who were considered to be terrorising the neighbourhood in the recent past.
Ruai DCIO Henry Kinyua revealed that the incident happened when the police got a tip, off from members of the public that the suspects were plotting to commit a robbery in Ruai.
The officers went after the two, who, as they say, opened fire on the police, thus a gunfight ensued.According to Kinyua, “the suspects fired at the officers when they were being pursued and this is what made the police respond with gunshots”. He was confirming the incident.
The two criminals are suspected to have taken a pistol from a licensed firearms owner about a week ago and have since been using it to terrorise the Ruai area and its surrounding places.
After the raid, the police were able to retrieve a pistol, 13 bullets, and two mobile phones from the suspects.Kinyua praised the members of the public for sharing the intelligence in time which made this successful operation possible.
The officer further advised the community members to be alert and keep cooperating with the police by reporting any suspicious persons or situations to them.
