Two Kenya Air Force (KAF) officers have been confirmed dead following a tragic military aircraft crash in Ndavaya, Kinango area of Kwale County.
According to reports, the fixed-wing military plane departed from Mombasa on Saturday and was last seen on radar near Diani. The aircraft later disappeared from the radar, prompting immediate concern from aviation authorities.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:06 p.m., roughly 27 minutes after takeoff. It remains unclear how many personnel were on board at the time of the incident.
Emergency response teams, including KAF crash investigators and local rescue personnel, were swiftly deployed to the scene to conduct search and recovery operations.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.This incident adds to a series of unfortunate air mishaps involving Kenya’s military fleet, renewing public concern and calls from experts and observers for urgent modernization and replacement of the aging aircraft within the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
The identities of the deceased officers are yet to be officially released pending notification of their families.The Kenya Defence Forces is expected to issue a comprehensive statement once preliminary investigations are complete.
