The National Assembly Committee on Appointments has rejected the nomination of Stella Soi Langat as Gender Culture, Arts and Heritage Cabinet secretary.

In a report tabled in parliament on Wednesday, August 7, by Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, all Cabinet secretary nominees were approved save for Soi.

“The committee rejects the appointment of Ms Stella Soi Lang’at,” Ichung’wah read without giving more information on why they rejected Soi.

TUKIO.co.ke has learned that the committee will table its report in parliament on Wednesday afternoon and the whole House will deliberate on it.

In their deliberation, the MPs will determine whether Soi is fit for appointment or uphold the committee’s recommendation to send her packing.

Those approved by the committee include Kithure Kindiki for Interior, Deborah Barasa for Health, Alice Wahome for Lands, Julius Ogamba for Education, Soipan Tuya for Defence, Andrew Karanja for Agriculture, Aden Duale for Environment, Eric Muuga for Water, Davis Chirchir for Transport and Margaret Ndung’u for ICT. 

Others are John Mbadi for Treasury, Salim Mvurya for Trade, Rebecca Miano for Tourism, Opiyo Wandayi for Energy Kipchumba Murkomen for Sports, Ali Hassan Joho for Mining and Blue Economy, Alfred Mutua for Labour, Wycliffe Oparanya for Co-ooperatives and MSMEs and Justin Muturi for Public Service.
