Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Sunday dismissed the opposition’s show of unity after their meeting at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s home in Wamunyoro, Nyeri County.

Speaking at an economic empowerment forum in Igegania, Gatundu North, Kiambu County, Kindiki said that when politics takes center stage in 2027, they will face the opposition head-on, and the opposition “will not believe”.

He emphasized that the contestants will have to present their performance record to the electorate.

Kindiki stressed that the Kenya Kwanza leadership is currently focused on delivering on campaign promises rather than engaging in political battles.

“We have no time to waste. I have seen some people mocking us that we don’t know how to campaign, that they know politics. My friends, the Bible says that there is a time and season for everything. This is the time for work, not the time to fight over who will have what position. Wakati huo ukifika tutanyoroshana na hao wanaume. They will not believe it. Everyone will bring their scorecard,” said Kindiki.

Opposition leaders present at the Wamunyoro gathering included Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, PLP’s Martha Karua, former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, DAP-K’s Eugene Wamalwa, former CS Justin Muturi, Mithika Linturi, and former MP Kabando wa Kabando.

They pledged unity, insisting they are the only group capable of rescuing Kenya from its current problems.

Matiang’i said if elected, they would restore public trust in government and clean up the country.
