Presidentila economic advisor Moses Kuria has taken to social media to remind embattled Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of a warning issued by Nyeri billionaire Dr. Thuo Mathenge and other prominent leaders from the Mount Kenya region before the 2022 elections.

Kuria emphasized that Mathenge, along with William Kabogo, Peter Munya, Mwangi wa Iria, and Martha Karua, had all cautioned Gachagua against aligning with President William Ruto without securing a political party.

“Dr. Thuo Mathenge, No Wanguku, William Kabogo, Peter Munya, Mwangi wa Iria, and Martha Karua warned you about going into elections without a political party. But you didn’t listen. You fought us like burukenge (a monitor lizard), and now that things are tough, you want us to cry with you as you slip into the opposition. Sahau! We have moved on,” Kuria wrote, expressing his frustration at Gachagua’s current predicament.

Kuria’s remarks come as Gachagua faces increasing political isolation following his impeachment, with many leaders in the region feeling let down by his decisions.

He highlighted the missed opportunity for Gachagua to strengthen his position within Mount Kenya by forming a political party instead of relying solely on Ruto’s UDA alliance.

In his message, Kuria acknowledged the shift in the political landscape, noting that Prof. Kithure Kindiki has already been installed as Deputy President of Kenya.

This development signals a changing of the guard within the Mount Kenya region.

“Prof. Kithure Kindiki is now the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya. Itu rirehiuririe mundu! (We owe no one any debt). We have moved on,” Kuria concluded, making it clear that the region is now focused on new leadership, leaving Gachagua behind in the political dust.
