Detectives in Voi have arrested three suspects believed to be behind a string of highway robberies along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
The suspects David Karanja, Juma Jumamosi, and Josephine Nthamba Mutie were linked to a daring April 9 robbery involving a truck transporting gypsum.
The gang ambushed the vehicle near Ikanga, hijacked it at gunpoint, and dumped the driver and co-driver before disappearing with the truck.
Karanja and Jumamosi were tracked and arrested in Taveta, where police recovered tools and the truck’s number plate. Nthamba was later arrested in Makindu.
All three have been presented in court, with detectives granted 14-day custodial orders to advance investigations and recover the stolen vehicle.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has reaffirmed its commitment to ending highway crimes and safeguarding road users.
