A woman from Nangoma village in Busia County has shocked residents by claiming she is Mary, the mother of Jesus, in human form.

Judith Nafula, a devout Catholic from Matayos constituency, says she received a divine revelation after being visited by Jesus in a beam of light. According to her, Jesus identified her as Mary and said it was time the world learned her true identity.

“A light came down from heaven, and in it was Jesus. He asked me where Mother Mary was, then told me it was me,” she told NTV.

Following the vision, Nafula says she spent two months on a nearby hill speaking with the Holy Spirit. Her husband, John Wekullo, now claims he too received a vision and was revealed to be Joseph, Mary’s biblical husband.

Nafula’s claims have not been well received by her church, which expelled her after she allegedly began performing miracles. “They said I was mad and threw me out,” she recounted.

Despite this, locals have been flocking to her homestead for prayers and blessings. Her relatives say some people report being healed or miraculously conceiving children after visiting her.

“She prays for people, and we’ve seen results,” said her sister-in-law.

While such claims are not new in Kenya, they continue to stir controversy, with many dismissing them as blasphemous or signs of mental distress.
