Three suspected robbers linked to a series of violent robberies in Westlands and other parts of Nairobi have been arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters Operation Action Team (OAT).
The arrests followed extensive investigations that enabled detectives to trace the suspects’ movements and criminal activities. Acting on intelligence, officers conducted an operation along Ngina Road in Kawangware, where they arrested the first suspect, identified as Nimrod Khayeshe, also known as Buba.
According to the DCI, Khayeshe later led investigators to his alleged accomplices, Vangelis Njungi, alias Vangi, and Patrick Kingato, who were also arrested during the operation.
Detectives recovered a Retay Falcon pistol fitted with a magazine loaded with three rounds of 9mm ammunition. They also seized two motorcycles, registration numbers KMGT 497W and KMHG 829H, which investigators believe were used by the suspects as getaway bikes during the robberies.
The three suspects remain in police custody as detectives finalize investigations and prepare to arraign them in court. The recovered firearm and motorcycles have been retained as exhibits to support the ongoing investigations.
The DCI said the successful operation demonstrates its continued commitment to combating violent crime and dismantling criminal networks through intelligence-led operations across the country.
