A primary school headteacher has been arrested over the fatal shooting of a teacher in Kerio Valley after months of investigations by detectives.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said detectives in Marakwet East arrested the headteacher of Koitilial Primary School on Friday, September 11, in connection with the death of Amos Kibet.
Kibet, who was also a civil servant, was shot dead at Mon Location in Kerio Valley Sub-County. The case was initially reported at Mogil Police Station.
According to the DCI, the arrest followed investigations and recommendations made by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
The agency said detectives had spent months trying to establish what happened on the day Kibet was killed.
“[The] fatal shooting of Amos Kibet at Mon Location in Kerio Valley Sub-County has remained the subject of painstaking investigations,” the DCI said.
The headteacher is expected to face court proceedings as detectives continue with the case.
According to DCI, investigations were not complete and detectives were still following leads that were related to the shooting.
The law enforcement agency further explained that detectives were working hard to get the circumstances leading to the death of Kibet as well as ensuring that anyone responsible is brought to book.
This is amid other investigations that police in the country are carrying out for reported murder cases.
