Renowned Kenyan music producers Teddy B and Ihaji have signed a landmark copyright administration agreement with IP Advisory and Management Services Ltd (IPAMS).
The move aimed at ensuring they receive fair compensation for the commercial use of their music compositions across various platforms.
The strategic partnership will see IPAMS take charge of tracking, collecting, and securing royalties for the duo, ensuring their creative work is adequately monetized.
Teddy B, known for producing chart-topping hits, expressed his enthusiasm for the new deal, stating:
“This partnership is a big move for me in securing the value of my work. With IPAMS on board, I am confident that my rights as a producer will be protected and my royalties collected.”
Ihaji, another key figure in Kenya’s music scene, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of copyright protection in today’s fast-evolving industry:
“The music industry is rapidly evolving, and ensuring that creators are compensated is more important than ever. I’m excited to have IPAMS handle my copyright administration, so I can focus more on creating music.”
Under the agreement, IPAMS will manage the relationships between the producers and entities such as broadcasters, streaming platforms, and commercial brands that benefit from their work.
The company will also oversee licensing agreements and ensure legal compliance, protecting the rights of both Teddy B and Ihaji.
Bernard Kioko, a spokesperson for IPAMS, welcomed the partnership with the two producers.
“We are thrilled to work with both Teddy B and Ihaji, two of Kenya’s most talented music producers. Our goal is to ensure they receive the financial compensation they deserve for their contributions to the music industry. This partnership reflects the increasing importance of copyright protection in today’s digital and commercial landscape.”
