AGT Judge Simon Cowell

American Got Talent (AGT) judge Simon Cowell will miss the show for several weeks following a routine back surgery procedure.

The 66-year-old music mogul is expected to make a full recovery, but his temporary absence leaves a noticeable gap in the judging panel for Season 21. He is scheduled to have a back surgery soon, as there is no indication of a new major health crisis.

Cowell has a history of back issues following a serious electric bike accident in 2020 that required surgery.

He has been on AGT for 10 years now, joining the judges’ table in 2016, and is fully expected to return to the hit show once he’s well enough to reclaim his seat.

According to reports from the production, they have emphasized that Cowell is in good spirits and determined to return, though his absence will be felt.

Known for his blunt critiques, sharp judgment and ability to spot a star’s potential, he has been a cornerstone of AGT since joining as both judge and executive producer. He has helped in planning, shaping the show’s tone and guiding contestants toward international podium.

During his absence, judges Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara and Heidi Klum will be at the judging table, while the three are also known for judging in reality and criticizing. Though it’s unclear who will fill Cowell’s seat during his absence.
