In a joint operation, officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Nakuru Regional County Investigations Office, and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) have arrested three individuals for producing counterfeit alcoholic spirits in Nakuru.

The suspects, identified as Mary Mugure, Peter Macharia, and Vincent Kibagendi, were apprehended at a godown located on Print Press Road in the Nakuru industrial area.

During the raid, officers confiscated 60 sacks of assorted bottle caps for various alcoholic spirit brands, a plastic molding machine, two and a half drums of ethanol, and a large quantity of labels and stickers used for fabricating the counterfeit brands.

The seized items have been transferred to the KRA warehouse in Nakuru, while the suspects remain in custody awaiting arraignment in court.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations reaffirmed its commitment to working with other agencies to combat the spread of counterfeit products in the market, ensuring the protection of consumers and the integrity of legitimate businesses.
