Riara University has broken its silence after a video circulating online showing women from the school threatening and assaulting another woman inside a public bathroom.

The video shows young women engaging in bullying and violence, with one of the women seen to be forced to jog on the spot while her aggressors laugh and record.

Riara University has confirmed that the institution was drawn into the controversy after reports emerged that some of women depicted in the footage are students at the university.

The institution issues a statement on October 2, condemning the incident stating they are reviewing the matter.

“It has come to our attention that some of the individuals depicted in the video are reportedly students at Riara University,” the statement read.

The university said the conduct depicted in the video, have no place within its community saying violence and intimidation in nit accepted in the school territory.

“Riara University unequivocally condemns violence, intimidation, bullying, harassment misconduct in any form. The alleged event occurred off-campus, such behavior directly contradicts our institutional values and our code of conduct for students,” the statement said.

The institution said its leadership had already initiated an internal review in response to the video.

“The University leadership has initiated an internal review of the matter in accordance with our Student Cod of Conduct and institutional policies and we are committed to cooperation with investigative authorities,” it stated.

Riara University said its commitment to maintain a safe and respectful academic environment. It did not disclose any disciplinary action against the student.
