SportPesa has unveiled a restructured partnership agreement with the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) to support the Men’s National 7s Rugby team, Shujaa, with a contract valued at Sh84.15 million.

This deal comes just ahead of the team’s highly anticipated return to the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri emphasized that the renewed partnership highlights the company’s commitment to Shujaa’s success.

“This agreement reinforces our ongoing support for Shujaa, ensuring the team is well-equipped and fully prepared for their return to the global stage,” Karauri said.

KRU Chairperson Sasha Mutai expressed confidence in Shujaa’s continued success, attributing the team’s recent strong performances to the support of partners like SportPesa and the dedicated efforts of players and fans alike.

“The positive momentum we’re seeing with Shujaa is a direct result of the unwavering support from our benefactors and the dedication of both the players and their supporters,” Mutai remarked.

Under the terms of the new deal, Shujaa will receive Sh33 million in the 2024-2025 season and an additional Sh49 million for the 2025-2026 season.

Furthermore, Sh1.65 million will be allocated as prize money for the SportPesa National 7s Circuit during the second half of 2025.

After Dubai, the team will travel to South Africa for the Cape Town leg scheduled for December 7-8, 2024.
