Safaricom has once again delivered impressive results for the half-year ending 30 September 2025, with group net income jumping 52.1 percent to KSh42.8 billion, renowned renewed growth in Kenya and Ethiopia.
Within the company, the performance of the Kenyan business remains the key driver, as it recorded 22.6 percent growth in net income to KSh58.2 billion, alongside a 9.3 percent growth in service revenue to KSh194 billion and a 13.1 percent increase in earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) to KSh89.5 billion.
In Ethiopia, Safaricom made great strides, as it closed the gap on its losses by 20.1 percent to KSh15.5 billion, despite challenges in the young market around pricing and currency reforms.
Peter Ndegwa, Safaricom Group CEO, commented, “This is a strong set of results and a solid start to our Vision 2030 strategy cycle. We remain focused on executing our plans through integrated solutions and customer-led innovation.” This is even more impressive on the backdrop of the heavy social impact initiatives Safaricom has continued to invest in.
The newly launched Citizens of the Future programme is a five-year project focused on modernizing more than 500 schools throughout Kenya by improving physical structures, awarding 10,000 scholarships, and integrating technology into the learning environment.

In Ethiopia, the company is deepening its community engagement through the newly launched Safaricom Ethiopia Foundation, which has set aside ETB 650 million for projects in education, youth, and economic empowerment a reflection of the company’s philosophy of “purpose before profit.”
Over the past quarter-century, Safaricom and the M-PESA Foundation have touched the lives of more than 22 million Kenyans, supporting initiatives in education, health, economic empowerment, and environmental conservation.
