Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has been acquitted of corruption charges in a case involving Sh213 million, following a court ruling that found no sufficient evidence to convict him.

Kidero had been accused of abuse of office, dealing with suspect property, and conspiracy to commit a corruption-related offence, charges that stemmed from his tenure at City Hall.

He faced the charges alongside several senior Nairobi County officials, but the court cleared all the accused, citing lack of proof linking them to the alleged offences.

The acquittal marks a major relief for Kidero, who has consistently maintained his innocence since the case began.
