The National Assembly will host President William Ruto on Thursday, November 21, 2024, for his State of the Nation address, marking his third address to Parliament since taking office in 2022.
According to a statement released on the National Assembly’s official X account, President Ruto’s address will begin at 2:30 pm. This address is expected to provide a detailed overview of his administration’s achievements, challenges, and future plans.
“Parliament set to host H.E President William Ruto for the State of the Nation Address to be held on Thursday, 21st November 2024 from 2.30pm,” the statement read.

This will be the third occasion President Ruto has addressed the bicameral Parliament. His first address was on September 29, 2022, following his inauguration, and his second address took place on November 9, 2023, fulfilling the constitutional requirement for an annual State of the Nation speech.
Addressing Growing Criticism
As President Ruto prepares for his address, his administration continues to face increasing criticism, particularly over the handling of key programs such as the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF). Public concerns have been raised regarding the accessibility and effectiveness of the new health fund, which is one of the major initiatives under Ruto’s government.
Despite the growing discontent, the government has stood by the SHIF model, urging citizens to register and participate in the new healthcare system.
The State of the Nation address is expected to be a platform for the President to not only highlight his government’s achievements but also to address ongoing issues and criticisms that continue to challenge his administration.
