President William Ruto on Wednesday reiterated Kenya’s unwavering commitment to supporting South Sudan in its pursuit of lasting peace, emphasizing the crucial role peace plays for both South Sudanese citizens and the broader East African region.

In a statement at State House Nairobi, President Ruto highlighted the importance of the Tumaini Initiative, a platform that unites government and opposition parties in South Sudan, as a beacon of leadership and hope for the country’s peace process.

“The search for lasting peace in South Sudan is of paramount importance to its citizens and the East African region. The Tumaini Initiative continues to provide a framework for collaboration and dialogue between the government and opposition,” President Ruto said, underscoring the initiative’s significant contribution to stabilizing the nation.

The statement came following a special message from South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit, conveyed through his Special Envoy and Minister for Presidential Affairs, Chol Ajongo.
