President William Ruto has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing construction of the Talanta Sports City in Nairobi, describing the project as a major boost to Kenya’s sporting ambitions.

Speaking after inspecting the facility located along Ngong’ Road, the President praised the progress made so far, noting that the development will significantly enhance the country’s profile in the world of sports.

“I’m impressed by the progress made in the construction of the world-class Talanta Sports City that will significantly elevate our country’s sporting profile,” Ruto stated.

The facility, which will have a seating capacity of 60,000, has already employed over 3,300 youth, offering a major economic and skills development opportunity. According to the project team, major walling work has begun, while equipping and final finishes are set to commence soon.

At the current rate of progress, President Ruto confirmed that the stadium is on track to be completed and ready for use by the end of this year.

The Talanta Sports City is expected to become a key hub for sports and entertainment in the region, offering modern amenities and a state-of-the-art environment for both local and international events. The facility is also seen as part of a broader effort to nurture local talent and position Kenya as a top sporting destination on the continent.

The President’s inspection underscores the government’s commitment to investing in youth empowerment and infrastructure development through sports.
