President William Ruto has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening Kenya’s public health systems through enhanced disease surveillance and emergency response mechanisms.

Speaking at State House Nairobi on Thursday, President Ruto presided over the official handover of disease surveillance vehicles to all 47 county governments.

The event, attended by county governors, marked a major milestone in the ongoing efforts to bolster grassroots health monitoring and preparedness.

“We are strengthening public health systems and grassroots disease surveillance, and enhancing emergency response through strategic investments and collaboration,” the President stated.

He highlighted the deployment of digitised and integrated surveillance systems across the country, which are complemented by targeted training programs aimed at improving early disease detection both at the community and health facility levels.

“These strategic efforts have significantly boosted national vigilance and capacity to respond swiftly to potential health threats,” he added.

The President used the occasion to once again urge Kenyans to register with the newly established Social Health Authority, which is a key pillar in the rollout of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

“Our goal is to ensure that every Kenyan, regardless of income or location, can access affordable and quality healthcare. I call on all citizens to take part in this transformative journey by registering with the Social Health Authority,” he said.
