President William Ruto on Wednesday commissioned a Ksh 130 million modern CT Scan Unit at the Nakuru County Referral and Teaching Hospital, marking a major milestone in the government’s push to modernize healthcare facilities across the country.
The Head of State said his administration is implementing an ambitious plan to enhance healthcare delivery through public-private partnerships (PPPs) that allow private investors to install and maintain critical hospital equipment, while hospitals pay only for the services rendered.
“Under this model, private players are installing and maintaining critical medical equipment, with hospitals only paying for the services delivered,” President Ruto stated.
The newly commissioned CT Scan Unit, powered by artificial intelligence (AI), will double the hospital’s scanning capacity to 100 scans daily and includes a state-of-the-art heart treatment kit.
“We will install over 70 such advanced machines in health facilities across the country under the same model, strengthening access to modern healthcare for all Kenyans,” the President added.
Beyond healthcare, President Ruto also spearheaded other development initiatives in Kenya’s youngest city. He broke ground for the Susan Kihika Primary and Junior School in Kiratina, Nakuru County — part of the government’s ongoing effort to expand access to quality education.
“We are committed to ensuring that every child in Kenya has access to quality education, regardless of their socio-economic background,” said the President.
