Huge traffic jam on Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

President William Ruto has revealed that the government will start the construction of a dual carriageway linking Nairobi and Nakuru next year, aiming to ease traffic congestion on the heavily-used highway.

Speaking on Sunday at AIC Kipkorgot in Uasin Gishu, Ruto acknowledged the difficulties caused by the current road infrastructure and reassured the public that a long-term solution is underway.

“We had a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement with a French company, but it did not come to fruition. However, we have another option. I want to assure you that next year, we will begin the construction of the dual carriageway from Nairobi to Malaba. We are in discussions with various companies to ensure this project addresses congestion and improves transportation efficiency,” Ruto stated.

This announcement follows growing complaints from motorists, especially during the holiday season, when heavy traffic resulted in hours of delays.
