President William Ruto is allegedly planning a significant shake-up in the National Assembly, with several key committee chairs, including Budget and Appropriations Committee leader Ndindi Nyoro, reportedly facing removal.

The President is said to be under pressure to replace disloyal committee leaders with trusted allies, particularly those who supported the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Insiders suggest that Ruto may implement these changes before MPs break for the December holiday recess, amid concerns of a potential alliance between Gachagua and opposition figure Kalonzo Musyoka.

Such an alliance, if realized, could disrupt Ruto’s legislative agenda, making control of key parliamentary roles critical to his strategy.

Nyoro, the Kiharu MP, has come under scrutiny after allegedly skipping the National Assembly vote on Gachagua’s impeachment, raising questions about his loyalty.

His absence from the approval vote for Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has added to suspicions, with allies of the President expressing doubts about Nyoro’s reliability.

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah recently warned committee chairs and vice chairs that their positions are not guaranteed, signaling that a “season of reckoning” is imminent.

Although he did not mention specific names, the remarks are believed to be directed at Nyoro and other potential dissenters.

“If you can’t be in the House, there are 280 other members who can take those positions,” Ichung’wah stated, hinting that further impeachments might occur.

Nyoro’s recent remarks on the economy have further stirred controversy, with some interpreting them as a veiled critique of the government’s economic narrative.

At a recent event, Nyoro argued that economic progress should be validated by citizens, not government officials—a stance that some see as distancing himself from Ruto’s economic messaging.

Nyoro’s influence has also reportedly created unease within the Kenya Kwanza coalition, particularly as he continues to gain popularity through national fundraising activities.

His projects in Kiharu have garnered attention, with other MPs even studying his initiatives.
