Politician Rose Mbithe Mulwa, her two children and two police constables have been charged with the murder of city lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu.

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions ( ODPP) the five accused appeared before the Kibera High Court, where they pleaded not guilty to the murder charge before Lady Justice Diana Kavedza.

The prosecution alleges that the accused, jointly with others who are not before the court, murdered Mbobu on September 9, 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m. along Magadi Road in Karen, Lang’ata Sub-County, Nairobi.

The two police constables charged are Julius Kipkoech Cheruiyot and Kennedy Kipkemoi Borboroi. The case marks a second murder prosecution involving Rose Mbithe Mulwa and her children, Chris Mulwa and Angela Mulwa, who are also charged in connection with the death of Dr Victoria Mutiso.
The prosecution further informed the court of its intention to charge Police Inspector Kenneth Sang in connection with Mbobu’s murder.

Sang was arrested in Eldoret and presented before the Milimani Law Courts on Monday. The court authorised his detention for 14 days to allow the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to complete its investigations.

The court directed the prosecution to file an affidavit opposing the accused persons’ release on bond. The bond application is scheduled for hearing on November 24, 2026.
