Rihanna recently gave a rare interview to Harper’s Bazaar, offering fans a glimpse into what to expect from her long-awaited new album. The singer revealed that the record will be far from what anyone anticipates, breaking away from mainstream, radio-friendly expectations.

“I know it’s not going to be anything that anybody expects,” she shared. “It’s not going to be digestible for radio; it’s going to be where my artistry deserves to be right now.”

While there’s been talk of a reggae album, Rihanna quickly put those rumors to rest. “Way off! There’s no genre now,” she said, explaining that her extended time away from music has been crucial in finding the right sound. “I cannot put up anything mediocre. After waiting eight years, you might as well just wait some more.”

The 37-year-old also expressed her optimism about the album, stating, “I feel like I’ve finally cracked it, girl!” Reflecting on the process of aging, she called it both a challenge and a blessing. “My legacy is right now,” Rihanna added. “That’s all I have the most control over.”

Though her music career has taken a backseat, Rihanna has stayed busy building her makeup and skincare brands, but she’s excited to return to what truly matters to her—her music.
