Kenyan musician and content creator Remcy Don has taken to social media to rant about “greedy” behavior by fellow musician Rekles, a member of the Ethic crew. In the viral post, Remcy made shocking disclosures about the financial toll their recent music collaboration has taken on him.

According to Remcy, he allegedly paid Rekles close to Ksh 500,000 for the song, and went ahead to spend over Ksh 600,000 to produce a high-quality video for the project. However, the drama started when it was time for Rekles to promote the track on social media. Remcy claims Rekles demanded an additional Ksh 200,000 just to post the music video on his handles.”Nisawa mimi ni tajiri lakini hata kama ni wewe utakubali…?” Remcy asked in his Instagram rant, perplexed at being asked to pay even more. “Hii collabo ni ya kulipia hadi pension?! Wasanii punguzeni tamaa!”

The drama did not end there. A screenshot of a private WhatsApp conversation allegedly from Rekles leaked, where he said:”Hio Doba mimi bila hio 200K mimi siwezi i post… na ujue you habe to pay the whole amount hakuna mambo ya deposit hapa… DO SO ni changamke… “He went on that the collabos Remcy was sending were an inconvenience and that he wouldn’t post the video if he wasn’t paid in full.

The drama has lit up the internet with discussion on professionalism, exploitation, and the ethics of collaboration in Kenya’s music industry. The majority of fans are sympathizing with Remcy, calling for more transparency and fairness in the way artists make deals.Although Rekles has not commented publicly, all eyes are now on him and fans are wondering whether he will share the much-awaited video on his channels.
