President William Ruto has expressed satisfaction with the government’s innovative policies aimed at restoring biodiversity, saying they have elevated the Maasai Mara to a global symbol of sustainability and wildlife conservation.

Speaking during the 2025 Wildebeest Migration Live Address at Maasai Mara National Reserve in Narok County, the Head of State said tourism has significantly improved by 15%.

He noted that Kenya, as a tourism hub, has welcomed over 2.4 million international visitors over the past year.

“It gives me immense pleasure to welcome the world to witness this great miracle of life unfold,” Ruto said

The event marked the official launch of the 2025 Great Wildebeest Migration with China Media Group (CMG).

President Ruto said this collaboration with CMG in bringing this spectacle to millions of viewers around the globe is not just a special broadcast but a bridge between nations.

“Today's historic broadcast is a powerful reminder of what is possible when vision meets partnership. It is phenomenal,” President Ruto added.

He reaffirmed Kenya and China’s commitment to friendship, building trust, understanding, and joint responsibility in preserving heritage, describing the collaboration as a joint declaration of nature’s breathtaking power.

The president called upon the international community to witness the annual wildebeest migration in the Maasai Mara, stating that the great land migration sees more than 2 million wildebeest move to Kenya’s Maasai Mara from Tanzania’s Serengeti in search of water and greener pastures.

He commended the Maasai people, whose culture, hospitality and guardianship make Kenya’s landscape unforgettable.

In attendance were Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu, Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano, among other leaders.
