First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto participated in the launch of the “We Are Equal” campaign alongside The Organisation of African First Ladies for Development in Zanzibar.

The #WeAreEqual initiative, spearheaded by Africa’s First Ladies, aims to unite them in driving transformative change in education, health, gender-based violence, and women’s economic empowerment.

The event featured a morning walk and a medical camp organized by the Zanzibar Maisha Bora Foundation, under the patronage of Mariam Mwinyi, the First Lady of Zanzibar.

Mama Rachel Ruto commended Mariam Mwinyi’s efforts, highlighting how her focus aligns with Kenya’s own campaign that prioritizes mothers and children in efforts to transform both households and communities.

“Kenya has chosen nutrition as the cornerstone of our campaign. We are collaborating with public primary schools to achieve the country’s Universal School Feeding Goal, which aims to provide 10 million school meals by 2030,” First Lady Rachel remarked.

This sustainable initiative will rely on partnerships with government bodies, NGOs, and development partners to enhance the ability of public primary schools to grow food for consumption.
