Manchester City striker Erling Haaland gave his side a two-goal lead just before the half-time whistle.
The Norwegian international opened the scoring in the 39th minute from the penalty spot following a costly defensive mistake by defender Virgil van Dijk.
In the two minutes of added time at the end of the first half, City added their adnatage as Haaland doubled the lead after running onto a clever lofted pass from Antoine Semenyo and calmly beating the goalkeeper with a close-range header into the left side of the net.
Haaland has now scored 11 goals in 12 career FA Cup appearances.
The early dominance highlights Manchester City’s attacking strength as they continue their push for silverware this season.
If Manchester City goes on to win the rest of the match they will add to their tally of seven FA cup titles before this bout.
Under manager Pep Guardiola, the club has maintained its reputation as one of the most formidable sides in English football, consistently competing across multiple competitions.
