Kenya is gaining momentum in international sports as Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya attended the 12th Commonwealth Sports Ministers Meeting (12CSMM) in Glasgow, Scotland.
The meeting comes on the eve of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, a moment when the world’s sporting leaders converge to shape the future of athletics across the Commonwealth.
At the meeting, they discussed the focus on how sports can empower young people, create opportunities and foster unity under the theme of “Reimagining the power of sports: towards healthier, fairer and equitable Commonwealth communities.”
The Commonwealth Secretary-General will attend the Opening Ceremony of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games and present medals on the first day of the Games.
Kenya, known for its athletic excellence, is preparing its athletes and shaping its policies that will define the competition’s legacy.
CS Mvurya was accompanied by H.E. Ambassador Maurice Makoloo, Kenya’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
