A powerful new awards initiative is set to shine a national spotlight on the strength, sacrifice, and impact of Kenyan mothers. The Thamani Awards 2025, launched this week, will recognise outstanding women whose contributions continue to shape families, communities, and the nation at large.
More than just accolades, the awards aim to tell the untold stories of motherhood—stories of resilience, leadership, innovation, and unconditional love. Whether she’s a teacher nurturing the next generation, an entrepreneur balancing boardrooms and baby bottles, or a trailblazer advocating for mental health—she deserves to be seen and celebrated.
The grand awards ceremony is scheduled for May 11, 2025, at the prestigious KCB Leadership Centre in Karen, Nairobi, falling on the eve of Mother’s Day. Organisers promise an evening rich in emotion, with live performances, storytelling sessions, and heartfelt tributes to the mothers of Kenya.
A total of 25 honours will be handed out, with 21 competitive categories and four honorary recognitions, including the coveted Super Mum 2025 title—an award that will go to a mother raising a child with special needs.
Nominations will be accepted from April 15 to April 20, with both self-nominations and public submissions encouraged. The final list of nominees will be released on April 22, kicking off a public voting phase that will run through May 5.
