The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has received the Port Operations Excellence Award at the East, Central and Southern Africa Shipping and Freight Logistics (ECSAFOT) Tournament Industry Excellence Awards held in Mombasa.

The award recognises the Authority’s contribution to the shipping, freight and logistics industry, particularly its commitment to collaboration, professionalism and creating a positive impact across the sector and the wider community.

The recognition was announced following the ECSAFOT tournament, which brought together players and stakeholders from the regional shipping and logistics industry.

Speaking on behalf of KPA Chief Executive Officer Captain William Ruto, Dr. Fred O. Oyugi, the Authority’s General Manager for Internal Audit and Risk Assurance, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to developing and supporting talent through sports.

The tournament was held under the theme “Connecting Freight Logistics Through Football,” highlighting the role of sports in bringing together industry players and strengthening relationships across the maritime and logistics sectors.

Through football, the event provided a platform for stakeholders to interact beyond their regular commercial engagements, promoting teamwork, partnerships and unity among players in the regional freight and shipping industry.

KPA’s recognition at the awards highlights its involvement in initiatives that extend beyond port operations to include industry collaboration, talent development and community engagement.

The ECSAFOT tournament continues to provide an avenue for strengthening relationships among stakeholders in the East, Central and Southern African shipping and freight logistics industry.
