The Principal Secretary for the State Department of Medical Services Mr Harry Kimtai on Monday, February 24, 2025, met with officials from the Rural Private Hospitals Association (RUPHA) alongside senior management to discuss strategies for enhancing and strengthening health service delivery.

The meeting focused on ensuring the continued provision of health services despite initial challenges in the rollout of the Social Health Insurance (SHI) scheme.

Discussions also covered capacity building on the deployed system and the payment of outstanding NHIF debts.

The role of the private sector in healthcare was emphasized, with timely payments by the Social Health Authority (SHA) highlighted as essential to the sustainability plans outlined by the delegation on behalf of its members.
