The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) National Forensic Laboratory on Monday hosted a delegation of instructors from the National Police College Main Campus, Kiganjo’s Department of Criminal Investigations.

Ms. Rosemary Kuraru, EBS, ‘ndc’ (K), SAIG, the Director of Forensics, accompanied by her Deputy Mr. Anthony Muriithi, CP, welcomed the delegation led by Mr. James Kariuki, SP.

The visit aimed to enhance the instructors’ understanding of the laboratory’s operations and its crucial role in supporting criminal investigations.

During the visit, experts from various specialized units provided insights into their functions.

These included the Bomb Disposal Unit, Forensic Fingerprint Identification Bureau (FFIB), Chemistry Unit, Biology Unit, Forensic Document Examination Unit, Ballistics Unit, Imaging and Acoustic Unit, Cybercrime Unit, Crime Scene Investigation Unit (CSI), and Forensic Evidence Management Unit (FEMU).

The delegation also toured the laboratory, observing advanced equipment and forensic methodologies used in law enforcement.

This exposure offered the instructors a practical view of the cutting-edge techniques that underpin effective criminal investigations.

The knowledge gained during the visit is expected to play a key role in shaping the training of recruits and serving police officers at the College.

This collaboration aligns with Article 244 of the Constitution, which requires the National Police Service to train its personnel to the highest standards of competence and integrity.
