President William Ruto has fired back at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over allegations that the government sponsored goons behind the destruction of property during recent protests.
In a fueled response, the Head of State challenged leaders, including Rigathi, making such claims to provide evidence, not insinuations.
“I’ve heard someone claiming that it’s the government that sponsored goons who destroyed property during demonstrations,” said President Ruto.
He went on to provoke those propagating accusations to do the needful by recording a statement at the police station.
“If you are man enough, tell us who those sponsors are. Go and record a statement,” added President Ruto.
He emphasised that if any leader had credible information linking government officials to the violence and vandalism, they had a moral duty to come forward and help deliver justice to the affected Kenyans.
“If you are a responsible leader, you should be able to provide that information to the public so that those behind can be arrested,” he added, while firmly warning against politics that cause distress to Kenyans.
“Otherwise, if you are playing politics with businesses of people who are shedding tears, then shame on you,” he warned.
