The Social Health Authority has unveiled a new medical scheme dubbed Usalama Cover targeting officers from the National Police Service and Kenya Prisons Service, as well as their families.

The programme was officially launched at Avenue Hospital by Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, alongside SHA Chief Executive Officer Mercy Mwangangi.

“The Social Health Authority has launched Usalama Cover, a new medical scheme for police & prison officers and their families. It promises uninterrupted care, faster access, 24/7 support, and simple digital services,”statement from SHA read.

According to SHA, the new cover is designed to offer uninterrupted healthcare services, faster access to treatment, 24/7 support, and simplified digital systems for users.

The authority said the initiative aims to reduce delays in accessing medical care, ease the burden on officers and their families, and ensure those serving in the country’s security sector receive quality and timely healthcare.
