Residents in Nairobi and neighboring counties are set to go dry for the next five days as the government plans to cut off the water supply in the region. This was announced by the State Department of Water and Sanitation.

Residents in Nairobi, Kiambu, Kajiado, Murang’a, and Machakos counties can expect the water supply to be cut off from Monday, April 6, at 8:00 AM.

The water cut is expected to last until Saturday morning. The shutdown has been planned to allow the repair of the Northern Collector Tunnel system.

The Northern Collector Tunnel system is one of the main water supply lines in the region. The system transports millions of liters of water into the region every day.

This shutdown has been planned to allow the repairs to be carried out. The repairs will be done on the pipeline carrying water from Ndakaini and Thika dams to Kigoro water treatment plant. The repairs will also be done on the pipeline carrying water from Kigoro water treatment plant to Gigiri water reservoir.

Residents in the region are advised to store enough water before the shutdown begins. They should also use the water they have with utmost care to avoid running out of water before the shutdown begins.

Although the shutdown has been planned to begin early in the morning, the government has said the shutdown has been planned to help in the long-term supply of water in the region.

The shutdown has been planned to help in the repair of the water supply line. The water supply line is expected to be switched on by Saturday morning if all goes as planned.
