Japan-based Victor Kimosop says his victory at Friday’s Nairobi Region Cross Country Championships at Nairobi West Prison Grounds has fueled his ambition for the upcoming national competition.
Kimosop is aiming for first place at the National Cross-Country Championships, set for February 8 at Eldoret Sports Club.
“My target is to finish first at my next race, the National Cross-Country Championships. I will train hard for it, as there are areas of my race, like speed, that I still need to work on,” he said.
Kimosop clocked 30:12.2 in the men’s 10km race, finishing ahead of Meshack Kimutai (30:36.7) in second and Betwel Kipsang (30:40.3) in third.
The win marked a turnaround for Kimosop, who had struggled in recent races, including a disappointing performance at the Sinoin Cross Country where he failed to finish.

In Friday’s race, the 21-year-old bided his time in the middle of the pack before making his move in the third lap.
He explained that this tactic helped him cope with the intense heat and secure the top spot.
