The police in Bomet County have arrested a clinical officer who is accused of raping a pregnant woman at Chemaner Health Centre.

The incident is said to have happened when the woman went to the health facility for a normal check-up. Bomet East Sub-County Police Commander Michael Singa stated that the suspect, who is identified as Eric Langat, also known as Kirinyet, was on duty when he allegedly raped the woman.

The problem is said to have started when the woman screamed from one of the rooms in the facility. The staff and patients then went to find out what the problem was. The police stated that they found the clinical officer in a compromising position.

The suspect is then said to have escaped as people started gathering around the scene.

The incident was then reported to the police at Chemaner, and they then started searching for the suspect. He was then arrested at his hideout.

The police and staff helped the woman and then took her to Longisa County Referral Hospital for further examination and counseling.

The police stated that the suspect has also been involved in two other incidents, but the police were not notified. He has also been close to the top management of the facilities, and this is said to have helped him escape from the previous incidents.

The police stated that he is to be charged once the process is over.

The police are also urging people to come forward and report any abuse and misconduct, as this is not going to be tolerated.
